WONDERFUL FAMILY VACATION, we went in the summer of '07. Booked trip again 4 this summer. Advice for parents of small ( height challenged) children you want to make sure they will meet the height requirements for ALL the slides. Atlantis will NOT give your chid the colored bracelet for slides, which can make your family trip difficult + expensive if your child can't ride the slides. We stayed 6 nights, did the dolphin adventure + gourmet meal plan for a family of 4. Lunch is NOT included in meal plan. Spent close to $* NOT including airfare- we used free miles. Here are a few tips to help keep the cost of your trip down. Take taxi across bridge when you get there by a case of bottle water, plus snacks you can keep in room. The meal plan we did not fully understand but I will try an explain it..... You get drink, appetizer, main course and dessert. The problem is a family of 4 doesn't NEED 4 appetizers, & 4 desserts + your main course. What happens is you end up paying 15% hotel tax on top of EVERYTHING you have ordered + tip. So this time we will be more conscious of that. We just thought we've paid for it in the price of the meal plan,so lets try a little bit of everything. Kids went to the evening camp 2 nights- they LOVED IT! Seafire Steakhouse & Cafe Martinque & Mesa were good. Would not recommend Chopsticks. Husband loved the casino, even saw a few professional athletes too. Great family vacation, but be prepared to spend some $$$$.

Before you choose Atlantis as your vacation destination, you need to decide whether it is going to bother you to pay $18 for one hamburger each time you and the kids want to grab a bite to eat. Atlantis is quite nice and convenient, but shockingly expensive. When reading all the other reviews on this site prior to my trip decision, I had assumed that all the midwesterners (where I was raised) complained about the pricing because everything is so cheap and efficient in the midwest. I had assumed that all the East Coasters (where I live now) said that Atlantis was convenient because it is a quick flight and they are used to rip-off pricing. However, I was wrong, Atlantis is way more expensive than New York City. The same outfit owns all 38 restaurants on the island. For example, a beer + chicken wrap + pina colada + BBQ sandwich + Salad was quite good, but cost $82 for a two person lunch. A large portion of Garlic Bread at Carmine's was $15. In the end, you are on an island and you are trapped. There are no 'cheaper' restaurants. Theoretically, you could walk off the island and over the bridge, but that is a few miles and I am not even sure if there was a grocery store on the other side of the bridge. Here is what is free: TV, Toilet, Air You have to pay for: Gym/Fitness, tennis court, Internet, drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool, coffee, etc. In the end, you need to decide if insane pricing is going to ruin your vacation. Atlantis is quite nice, but it is a constant rip-off.

I'll make this somewhat short & somewhat sweet! For starters ,the resort itself is beautiful! Kids & adults alike will have a blast on all of the various water rides! Our family of four stayed at the Royal Tower on the Imperial Club level. Was worth staying on the club level, due to the masses of people that lined up at the hotel restaurants for breakfast lunch & dinner. Truly did not even feel the hustle & bustle of the outside world aka. any other floor then the Imperial Level. MUST get car service through the hotel to & from the airport, if not, plan on about an hour to hour & half drive to Atlantis from airport versus 25 minute ride w/ your own driver/limo/towncar, your choice. Did find the staff to be somewhat standoffish. Just dissapointed in the lack of hospitality. Definately not as kind and efficient as those in Mexico or Puerto Rico. DO NOT book Carmines!! We booked through the Imperial level 4 months ahead of time & ended up walking out after waitng an hour for a table that would not have been ours for at least another 1 hour 45 min.! Put your pool towels out VERY early n the day, around 7 am.! Just take a few back to your room the night before, otherwise, forget getting a seat at 11:00! Bimini Road & Mesa Grille were both great & perfect for our kids. I encourage all parents to take advantage of the Atlantis Kids Academy! Our kids were begging to go back the next nght! All in all, a great trip. FYI If you enjoy getting a work out in, as my husband & I do, in the am., get ready for a $* charge each to utilize the gym!
